About Keno Glossary
- Catch: is when the number generator
draws a number that is also selected on the ticket.
- Draw: is the action of choosing
20 numbers out of the balls cage.
- Hit: happens when a number on
your ticket matches the called number.
- Hold: The total amount of money
left after all the winning hands are paid off.
- House Edge: the percentage of
the overall wagers that the casino can win over a period of time.
- Jackpot: The total amount paid
to the winner of the progressive game. The jackpot normally is
the amount remained from the subtraction of the total prize and
the regular payoff; e.g. £3,000 is the total and £700 is the regular
payoff therefore the jackpot is £2,300.
- Keno Balls: the little balls
that are used to represent the numbers in the cage.
- Keno Board: it is the electronic
board, which displays the drawn numbers.
- Keno Counter: is where keno
players buy their tickets and collect their winnings.
- Keno Lounge: is the place where
the players play the game, watch the draws and mark their tickets.
- Keno Odds: is the payout schedule
that explains the amount you win when matching any number of draws.
- Mark: a mark is a sign made
on the numbers of the keno card either by the player or by the
computer.
- Progressive Keno: is the keno
race with a jackpot that raises over the time.
- Race: One round of keno game
is called a Race
- Spot: every number that the
player chooses on his/her ticket is known as a spot. Number of
spots differentiates between the types of games, e.g. in 8 spot
game you can't select more than 8 numbers on the tickets.
- Straight: is the simplest way
of choosing numbers.
- Ticket: is a paper sleep, which
displays 80 numbers and the player has to mark 4-10 of them and
later on match against the drawn numbers.
- Tournament: is a set of races
in which players compete against each other.
- Video Keno: is similar to video
poker and the random number generator of the computer chooses
the numbers.
